ADVANTAGES OF GIVING THROUGH GIFT, A GIFT THAT WILL KEEP ON GIVING
The GIFT Foundation (Geneseo Is For Tomorrow) was established to give people a way to channel their charitable dollars and maintain on-going control over those funds. And it will provide endowment funds that will benefit the community forever.
"There are many advantages of using GIFT as a conduit through which to channel one's charitable giving," explains GIFT board secretary Dawn Tubbs. "Simplicity is the first. One contribution to GIFT can address a wide range of needs or interests and can benefit on or a number of charitable organizations in the Geneseo area."
Tubbs also notes that GIFT ensures the best use of your donation through the prudent judgement of the committee members, the rigorous oversight of the Board of Directors, and the key partnerships with individuals and organizations to benefit the donors and the community.
"A donor can achieve nearly any charitable objective by choosing from the variety of fund types offered by GIFT," says Tubbs. "Almost any asset of value can be considered."

Giving through GIFT also provides flexibility, according to Tubbs. GIFT is aware of changing conditions in our community. GIFT will honor a donor's wishes regarding the charitable beneficiary or field of interest designated. Should the original beneficiary or purpose of a gift become obsolete, incapable of fulfillment, or inconsistent with the needs of the area, the Board of Directors can then redirect those funds to other related concerns where the donor's interests can be carried out.
Tubbs also points to the permanence and continuity of giving through GIFT. "A donor's gift creates an endowed fund which will continue to benefit the community far into the future. The size of the fund can be increased at any time through additional donations, including a bequest in the donor's will."
Recognition is a unique factor with GIFT. All grants from a donor's fund are identified to the recipients by the name that has been given to your fund. Donors can, of course, request anonymity with the assurance that their wishes will be respected.
"There are tax benefits associated to giving through GIFT," says Tubbs. "The GIFT Foundation qualifies as a public charity under federal tax law. Thus, donations can result in important income tax advantages and bequests are deductible for federal estate and state tax purposes."
Tubbs points out that GIFT is a local organization with deep roots in the community, has broad expertise with regard to community issues and needs and is dedicated to helping citizens help the community today and will into the future.
