Community Choir Establishes Scholarship and Charitable Giving Funds with GIFT
The Community Choir of Geneseo has established an annual scholarship and charitable giving fund with GIFT (Geneseo Is For Tomorrow) Foundation.
Pictured below are Pam Edwards, community choir Director, and Jim Unrath, GIFT Executive Director. The community choir of Geneseo set up this annual scholarship for a graduating senior student that will attend college to study in the field of music education.
Once the fund reaches the $10,000 level, the money will be placed into an endowed fund which will provide scholarship money in perpetuity.
Funds will be raised from donations and the annual performance of the community choir.
Pam Edwards is the driving force behind this project. She is well known throughout the community and has a passion for music and education. She is a retired music educator from the Geneseo school district.
GIFT is a Community Foundation and is affiliated with the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend (CFGRB). GIFT offers many excellent tools and vehicles for individuals as well as not-for-profit organizations. By establishing the charitable giving fund, the Community Choir of Geneseo can accept donations from individuals and other organizations, offering the tax benefit to donors without requiring the organization to attain or maintain a 501(c) status.
Contributions to the Community Choir of Geneseo Endowment can be made at any time. You may send your gifts directly to
CFGRB (Community Foundation of Great River Bend) 852 Middle Rd., Ste. 100, Bettendorf, IA 52722 with 'Community Choir of Geneseo' identified in the memo line of the check. If you wish to remain anonymous, please indicate this on a note with inclusion of the check.
GIFT was pleased to be able to help Geneseo Community Choir establish this fund and offers to help similar groups to do the same. GIFT can offer a wonderful service for any charitable group who has avoided establishing an endowment because of the hassle, the expense, or just not understanding how to get this task completed. With little more than signing the paperwork, the fund is established and its earnings then support the group’s good works.
