GENESEO STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM $40,000 GIFT

Geneseo—The Geneseo Endowment for Excellence in Education (G.E.E.E.) recently received a check for $40,000 from the Geneseo Is For Tomorrow Foundation (GIFT). The funds are from the Bill and Susan Sherrard Trust.

Barb Fehlman, chairman of G.E.E.E. noted that the funds will further the organizations mission of providing funding to enhance educational opportunities for Geneseo students. “Right now we are looking at helping upgrade the science facilities at the high school and introducing new technology into classrooms,” she said.

Fehlman, also a niece of the Sherrards, said that the couple would be pleased to see the way in which the gift is being used. “Aunt Susan was a teacher in a one room school house and education was very important to her. She and Uncle Bill supported education during their life times, and now continue to do that, with their trust. I think that says a lot about the kind of people they were.”

“We are confident this distribution accurately reflects their wishes,” says Brett Lohman, GIFT chairman. “Their foresight to set up this trust will positively touch the citizens of the community forever.”
